Over the years, the Archives & Special Collections at Albright College has grown from the generous donation of material and financial gifts. All gifts offered to the College must support the objectives of the College and Gingrich Library. Appropriate financial, staffing, space arrangements, and other considerations must be agreed to by the Special Collections Librarian, before any major gift will be accepted for the Archives and Special Collections.

In addition, a gift will be accepted only if the Archives and Special Collections are prepared to provide proper care and respect for it. A Deed of Gift must accompany all gift material. The monetary evaluation of gifts is the responsibility of the donor.

Photographs will be accepted provided they are in good condition and are identified or easily identifiable.

For the Archives and Special Collections, gifts accepted are rare books, and materials on topics such as the Pennsylvania Dutch, Reading and Berks County, and the United Methodist Church, specifically the College's Evangelical Association roots. Other materials of interest are materials and memorabilia related to Albright College and its predecessor colleges and seminaries, including books and journal articles by alumni and faculty.

All potential donors are asked to submit a list or description of the items to the Special Collections Librarian. It may be necessary to view the materials. The Library must determine that the donor has a legal right to dispose of the items. All materials become the property of the Library and will not be returned to the donor unless stipulated in the Deed of Gift. Otherwise the Library reserves the right to determine where the items will be housed or how disposed.
