General Borrowing Information

The college ID card is also your library card. You will need your library card for all circulation transactions, including reserves. Faculty and staff may borrow books from the circulating collection for a loan period of four months; media for 2 weeks. Other material for use during class time if necessary for a presentation may be borrowed on a case-by-case basis. Most items can be renewed in person or online (by logging into the online catalog) for another borrowing period. Items may be recalled from faculty if they are needed desperately by another faculty member, depending upon the patron's need.

Upon request, your family members can be issued ID cards that will entitle them to borrow 6 items at a time from the collection. There may be some restrictions on their use of the card. Contact a staff member for more details.

The online catalog includes materials it from other campus departmental libraries. These items are available for your use but must be obtained from the department. They decide the borrowing terms for their materials.

Borrowing Materials At Other Libraries

By presenting your Albright ID card, Albright faculty and students can arrange to have free access to the State Library and over 20 academic collections of the Associated College Libraries of Central Pennsylvania (ACLCP): Alvernia, Bucknell, Dickinson, Elizabethtown, Franklin and Marshall, Gettysburg, Harrisburg Area Community College, Harrisburg University of Science and Technology, Juniata, Kutztown, Lebanon Valley, Lycoming, Messiah, Millersville, Penn State Harrisburg, Saint Joseph's, Shippensburg, State Library of Pennsylvania, Susquehanna, U.S. Army War College, Wilson, and York.

Many other libraries offer borrowing or access privileges, but often require advance notice. Contact us if you anticipate a visit.

Interlibrary Loan Support

Our goal is to help you locate and borrow any materials you need that we do not own at Albright. Journal articles and book chapters arrive within 1 to 3 days; books must be mailed via U.S. Mail or UPS and typically arrive between 1 and 2 weeks. Most databases have an automatic interlibrary loan link, but you can make a request directly.
