Steps in the research process.  

1. Identify the subject area you will work with.  Professors may give specific guidance.
2. Check sources for background information, even for familiar topics.
3. Create a question that your work will answer.  
4. Gather resources to support your thesis.
5. Produce a result (essay, powerpoint, oral presentation)
6. Share your results.

Research is interactive; it will evolve as you explore and learn.
