Connecting the Past with the Present

 

 

There are three sets of diaries in Special Collections:

  1. Nelson Armstrong Irvine was born February 7, 1860, and was from Hogestown, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. He attended Union Seminary, New Berlin, Union County, Pennsylvania for one term, 1879-1880. He moved to Logansport, Indiana, and worked as a timekeeper for the railroad. He retired in 1926, and moved to Miami, Florida where he passed away August 19, 1949. He was buried in the Mt. Hope cemetery, Logansport, Indiana. The collection contains several personal essays.
     
  2. Henry W. Schweigert (1847-1923) was a student at Palatinate College. He was from Friedensburg, Schuylkill County, PA and was the son of John and Anna Maria Schweigert. His diaries cover the years: 1869, 1870, 1875 and 1879 .
     
  3. Henry Beckely Werner was the son of William and Rebecca Werner founders of Wernersville, Berks County, PA. Henry was born in 1844 and died in 1916. He was married to Eva (Hain) Wener. The diaries written by Henry cover the years: 1865, 1868, 1869 and 1870.
