In Spring 2011, librarians were approached by a faculty member in the college's religious studies department for help and expertise in information retrieval with the objective of creating a fully-searchable database from a large MS-Word document created with a colleague from Britain, Titled Bible in the Reel World, the document was an alphabetical listing of popular films analyzed for scriptural references. Each entry included the cast, the names of characters, the films' ratings, a brief synopsis of the film, and an analysis of each film for scriptural references.
While all software products used in the creation of the database are open source, the original data is owned and copyrighted by Dr. Larry Kreitzer, Regent's Park College, The Oxford University, in conjunction with Dr. Robert Seesengood, Albright College.
